
The minimum age which you can legally drive a car on the public roads is 17.
If you are disabled & in receipt of mobility allowance the min. age is 16.
Before you start your driving lessons, you will need your provisional driving licence.
Complete application form D1 and photocard
application D750 which are available from most post offices.
You can apply for your
licence up to three months before your 17th birthday.
If you have a date in mind to start your lessons (eg your 17th birthday), please let us know in advance.

It is worthwhile having an eyesight test to check that you meet the minimum eyesight standard for driving before your first lesson.
Remember, until the day you pass the practical part of your driving test you are not allowed to drive on your own.
